Hi, I am Ayesha Umair, Dubai mom blogger, stay-at-home mom to two, communication designer, chronic list maker, wannabe crafter, and perpetually perplexed at women with perfect hair. I am currently at a mini mid-life crisis. At my age, Madonna had sold millions of records, appeared in a couple of movies and had even authored a book!
I am sitting here; throwing knickknacks at my seven-month-old, in the hopes of swaying her away from pouncing at my laptop.
If you are a mother, you would agree that Madonna had it easy. Unlike what the world thinks, we don’t sit around watching television and eating food (unless its leftover and its Peppa Pig playing). Yes, I am one of those moms who serially complain of not having any time.
I am pretty sure Madonna wasn’t distracted every ten minutes; to catch a baby with an appetite for all-things dirty and a toddler who wants his mom to record his every new move.
It’s true that it takes a village to raise a kid. Unfortunately, for most of us in Dubai, we have left the village and our moms (the best baby-sitters) behind. But, no worries. We can create an even more awesome one- a virtual one. Let’s join forces to help each other survive motherhood in this concrete jungle.
